I feel I've seen this mark before somewhere but can't remember where or find it again!  ::)

Does anyone know which crystal maker used a stencil-type capital letter B on their stemware please? The mark is one the foot of a rather nice tall wineglass (see below for pics of item and the mark.) Thanks in hope. :)

Also consider M underlined, I think W or 3 unlikely.

Looks like "13" to me, maybe brushed on with an acid paste?  I dunno.

Edinburgh made a similar pattern, Lochiel, that is shown on Frank's Glass Catalogue site.  The punties look a bit smaller in the images, but I don't know if it's significant.  I didn't see the blank, but I didn't look through them all.

Mark is sandblasted. Lochiel can also be seen in the catalogue on Scotland's Glass for those with no access to the Glass Study. (You are welcome to subscribe of course  ;) )

Kristi, thanks for the suggestion - it does look the same pattern, doesn't it?   I can't find the shape/size of mine in Frank's listing, and the stem on mine has a knop whereas the catalogue items have a baluster stem instead. I don't think this one is very old, so perhaps a later production?

Frank, thanks for the suggestion of M rather than a B - definitely worth checking out. :)

Kerching! This is solved! :) I now have two of these in the exact same pattern, one carrying the above mark, the other acid stamped with the curved text WEBB CORBETT.

A search of replacements.com tells me this is the Webb Corbett "Georgian" pattern, so this is either a WC stamp or a later Royal Doulton stamp (which I suspect is the case.)

I have just bought several sets of glasses in this pattern, etched with a B on the base.  Mine also have paper labels which say Webb Corbett Grade B, so I think the B is meant to indicate that it is not A grade.

Ahhhh that would make sense, so a second rather than a perfect item. Thank you for adding the info. :)
