 Hello All,

 I'm having some problems finding any info on Bjorn Weckstrom glass. Most links have things made from his design but not from him.

 I bought at a auction a nice vase that says Bjorn Weckstrom  the town and "77".


 I hope that someone can give me a hand.

It looks like Nuutajarvi Notsjo.

 I can try to take some pictures of it if this will help.

Nuutajärvi-Notsjö is the name of a glassworks, in Urjala, Finland. (Info from Ivo Haanstra's Miller's Glass fact file a-z)
Nuutajärvi are part of the Iitala group

Presumably Bjorn Weckstrom would be the designer of your piece.

As far as I can see, this designer was invited to come with ideas for designs in different materials such as glass, quite a common practice in Scandinavia ( don't know about the rest of Europe). He does not appear to be a glass producer but rather one that has designed something to made in glass. Bill, I'm sure that someone else will come with a better explanation.. with best wishes, a40ty

Hi Bill,

Great glass - definitely collectable!
As far as I'm aware Nuutajärvi originally invited Weckström to contribute some designs in the mid-1970s. The date I have for the first "foot" vases is 1976. His designs at that period often seem to have a "human" element - lots of feet, arms, legs & various limbs. He also designed at least two standard production ranges for them - those are usually unsigned or just marked with the factory name - and a tableware range called "Himalaya".

I'd love to see a photo of your vase!
