Hi All,

Just joined this site today! Could anyone provide me with any further information on the attached whitefriars vase?  - Havent come across this design before, any info would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards, Greg

Is 15cm in height and has a distinct ground pontil, sold as whitefriars.

Hi Greg, and welcome to the GMB  :)

Thanks for posting the image of the vase.  It isn't a shape I'm familiar with.  What makes you think it's Whitefriars?

Giving an idea of size would be useful too.   :)

Hi Max,

Thanks for the welcome.  The vase has a ground pontil on the base and was sold by a glass dealer as whitefriars, although i havent come across anything like this before.  Base is square and the top is round in form. Just over 15cm in height.

I could be way off the mark here but it reminds me of a piece of Mdina though they are usually in a blue colour.

I don't think it's Whitefriars Greg. The ground, circular pontil on the base can be found on any number of vases, so it's not a good indicator of WF particularly.

We have some great WF experts on this board and no doubt someone will be able give you definite opinion soon.   :)

LOL  :hiclp:

As for the vase, I'm of the same opinion as JP - am fairly positive it's Mdina, I have come across other pieces in this colourway...

Oh and by the way, the polished pontil on Mdina *usually* indicates early production (late 60s/early 70s) so this is probably a much better buy anyway!
