vase with four coloured stripes, Czech? = ID = Frantisek Zemek
« on: February 25, 2009, 01:59:19 PM »
Hi all,
found this vase on the weekend, I think I have seen similar items attributed as made in Czechoslovakia but I can no longer remember where or retrace my surfing steps to find out. The vase stands 23cm tall and has four applied coloured 'stripes' (rose, blue, green and amber), the base is polished and flat.
If any one can help with info on it's origins I would be very grateful.
John.

looks like Frantisek Zemek pieces made by Mstisov glassworks circa 1960.

Thank you Ivo, just googled your info and that is definitely the sort of style I was thinking of, excellent! Looks like a new area of interest has just emerged for me (whoops, yet more glass to find and display).
John.

I have a little time on my hands today and hence this post (showing off really). I have added another Frantisek Zemek vase to my horde from a local antiques centre. They are fantastic designs, I love the bulbous nature of the second vase....

From a range called Rhapsody.  There are all kinds of shapes and sizes.

Ooh a bowl, I am green with envy. About a year ago I foolishly gave my sister a long thin bowl (possibly ashtray) in this design. She tricked me in a most hideous way by saying she liked it.

Will snap a photo of it on the weekend.

Must resist thinking about liberating it.

Here are some photos of the ashtray (it has cigarette rests), though very similar in style with four colours I am not 100% convinced they are contemporary with each other.

Ok, now I am really jealous! Wow, thank you Jindrich for adding your photos of the Rhapsody pieces. Now I know what to look for I shall be busy for some time.....

Then I will need more space.

John.
