Tamara Aladin Kleopatra jug.
« on: March 03, 2009, 08:24:59 PM »
Hi,
I am sure Pip will know this.
Is there an opaque version of this jug?
I saw one in an Antique shop recently and wondered whether it might be a copy. The colour was a pastel green shade and the interior a glaring white. The piece was near mint and looked really good. I have heard that there have been pastel copies of Holmegaard and Arthur Percy coming out of the East so could this be one as well?
I am tempted to buy it.
Cheers,
Bryn

I've had a handful of Kleopatra jugs in the past - never heard of an opal cased one, nor am I aware of this kind of colour combination in the Riihimaki palette (not that I'm an expert).

Hi Nic,
I agree it was new to me as well. I wondered if it could have come from another Scandi company, my heart says possibly but my head points me towards China. It is quite cheap at just £8 so I may well take a punt. If I do buy it I'll upload a photo.

Cheers,
Bryn

Hi Bryn, I agree with Nic, as far as I know there's no opal cased version of the Kleopatra jug  - so not Riihimaki I'd say - perhaps from the Far East or mainland Italy maybe?

Thanks Pip, that's good enough for me to leave it where it is.
It does look very new and probably is.
Cheers,
Bryn
