UNKNOWN JAMES POWELL 1870's LEAF PATTERN- DRESSERESQUE!

(1/1)

BONYTONY:
Hi
I've just uploaded an unknown pattern from my copy of the 1860's James Powell & Sons Catalogue "A" onto WHITEFRIARS.com. It's called the Leaf Pattern. There's a Christopher Dresser feel to it. It does not appear in the Wendy Evans MOL Whitefriars book and it's the only pattern which is titled.

The Leaf Pattern seems to hold a high profile position which is unique to that catalogue where numbers are replaced by descriptions of the various items available... all other tableware and vases are simply numbered.

My great grandfather Hubert Powell was the director of Whitefriars during the Harry Powell era and my family copy of this Catalogue(much of which appears in the MOL book while some does not) includes this Leaf Pattern which to date has not been published until now....there's also other interesting handwritten info which I plan to get out here when I can.

It may be possible to upload the whole catalogue onto the Whitefriars website at some future date. I hope so. If this happens I'll post the link here on GMB. Meanwhile look at this lovely leaf pattern & I'll be so interested if anyone knows of any glass examples. :)

Hi,
Well the post that Tony gave the link to has moved on.....................

Luckily Chris Morley and Brian Cargin have provided an image of a Carafe that they now know to be Powell.

There must be other examples out there????????????
