19th C French flower paperweight ?
« on: March 04, 2009, 08:29:53 AM »
I don't quite follow why this item is a 19th C French flower formed canes paperweight.  It looks more like a Silesian weight to me (or even Murano). And I don't know why the canes are 'flower formed' rather than millefiori.

What does anyone else think?

I agree, these canes look like 1930's Bohemian.

I sold a set of these canes on Ebay last month.

Hi Roy

I could believe they were from the same maker! Certainly not French.

Regards, Alan.

Definately Bohemian,1920-30

An almost identical weight to this one is in the Von Brackel book, page 36.

Do you think the makers were trying to imitate the earlier Riedel weights with their green backgrounds?

I'm actually suprised we don't see more of these on eBay.

I'm not sure if is Reidel or not, but I love the mica sparkle!

IMHO it is a Riedel, Kari.
