Penguin set with inset penguins!!!!!
« on: March 17, 2009, 06:45:43 AM »
Whilst we were away in Tassie I saw a joined set of 3 penguins about 6" high and 7" long in different sizes on a solid white glass base. The front of the penguins were clear glass and inset in the clear glass was another pair of small penguins.

I am not into animals in Murano but this was most unusual. Anyone heard of anything like this?

Yes Cathy well done, they were exactly like the blue one in the middle of the 3rd picture down but there were 3 of them all different sizes and joined on the top of a 'wave' of glass. Cant see too clearly but it does look like something inside of the one in the picture and it might be small penguins.

Are they interesting or were there thousands of them made?

BTW the antique dealer who had them was pretty excited about them and claimed they were one of her best finds recently. Think she will be in for a shock.
