Help ID this gorgeous bowl pls, Czech?
« on: May 17, 2009, 10:04:31 PM »
Hi All,

I would be really grateful if one of the kind members here would help ID this bowl for me. It is one of the few pieces that I bought with me when I returned from Holland a year ago. My gut feeling is that it is of Czech origin.
It is an incredibly well made item, extremely heavy and has a flat, polished base, with silver inclusions to the interior (within the glass).

TIA
Della

Good luck,

Hi Della,
I have no evidence about ussage of silver inclusions in Skrdlovice. Let we focus to Karlovarské sklo or Borocrystal - if Czech.

Two questions:
Quallity of glass? Any air bubbles even small?
Dimensions of the bowl?

All best
Jindrich

Hi Jindrich,
The quality of the glass is exceptional, no bubbles in the item at all.
The diameter is 150mm and height is 100mm.
It weights over 2kg, well probably nearer to 3  :o

Andy,
Thank you.

M,
Thanks.

ID found.Skrdlovice, 1967 - Ladislav Palecek pattern 6749.

I have been confused with "silver inclusions" - silver was used by Hlava in Exbor. Inclusions are not silver but mica.
Excellent piece Della.

Jindrich

Sorry, Jindrich, but may I ask if  this is from an edition of 1250, or less?

This information is not given in Skrdlovice books.
I suppose not. This piece is part of Palecek's collection that consist from 10 - from vases, jardinieres, ashtray to candlestick and 3 paperweights.
