Pressed jam jar - maker, age? REG D Nr. 723256
« on: May 24, 2009, 12:09:56 PM »
hi there!

found this jam jar on a market today. it's made of dark violet glass, which is satinised
to the outer surface. the decoration makes me think art deco ~1925?  it's got a
registration number on the bottom.

REG D Nr. 723256

~13cm (~5") tall

anyone can help?

TIA
dirk

Dirk, that's an incredibly impressive jam jar!!! :)  I'm wondering if it was an apothecary jar - being so dark would stop the contents from discolouring - e.g. like herbs do in clear jars.

Registered 13 Aug 1926 by the International Bottle Co. (Ref The Glass Association Registration Nos 1908-1945 i.e. the Blue Book.)

Anne, thanks a lot - you're so quick! :o

i hadn't considered this to be likely, but found (by using the search option - :clap head:)
that Christine already made a request on this.
Christine, please, i'd love to see a picture of this jar in uranium!

(p.s.: besides - i've had a wonderful flea market day and sit here in front of my computer - smiling and humming)  :)
