Hi all I'm desperate to find out if this is an olives pattern... I have noticed that where the bowl joins
the stem there is a cross on the base that would denote a four part mould being used, I'm almost
sure its a Borsk'e Sklo item and possibly quite scarce any ideas.. regards Paul.

Hi Paul,
sorry I have not replied sooner, I had not been sure .

This piece is Borské sklo. I have purchased same piece with label. So even not found it catalogues for the moment, I assume that we should attribute it like Borské sklo,  big olives optic.

I would say it was Borske Sklo (the four-part mould is correct), but not Olives, rather Ball, as the windows are ball- and not olive-shaped. The enamelled windows are Nemo. There are also other window shapes with appropriate names. Scarce I would doubt; Mark Hill uses the phrases "vast numbers" and "immensely popular" for these designs and they also had a long production run. Yours might just be one of the slightly more unusual shapes

Well, the difference between "Ball" and "Olives" pattern is not in shape of moulded ovals but in their ordering.
"Ball" pattern has ordered "balls" in more-less horizontal rows whereas "Olives" pattern has "olives" staggered - see attached pictures.

They're al in staggered horizontal rows in those pictures Jindrich. They would have to be aligned so that four of the mouldings formed a square rather than a diamond to be any different. Why would you call a pattern olives if they weren't olive-shaped, i.e., oval shaped. The glass in the olives picture does appear to have ovals though and some of the vases definitely have moulded ovals.

Once more Christine,
I have pasted there two times BALL :-) becouse of error in downloading. Try to trust me - I have several examples of BALL and OLIVES patterns - the staggered versus line ordering is apparent.
