Murano Water Jug with Unknown Label
« on: May 25, 2009, 02:21:47 AM »
Hi All

My partner Alison just loved this jug so it had to be bought. I posted a question re the label which remains unknown.

It seems to be too fine to be a Murano piece yet the quality of the work and the label has Made in Italia or something like that on it. Could be piece of Italian glass but not Murano I guess. The colours are what made Alison want it.

Any ideas would be welcome.

It is 23cm tall and 24cm wide. Havent got our hands on it yet so dont know weight or pontil information.

regards to all

:24: Loved it! Thanks for the good chuckle.

I don't know if it is too fine to be Murano, but it does look too moulded from what I can see. Maybe you'll be able to tell more about it when you get it in hand.

Oops! Anita, maybe I should have said too thin, or too lacking in detail, or far to unevolved, or too little craftsmanship, or too lacking in finesse or, or anyway or too something.

regards

I just ran across this yellow jug that is attributed to Carlo Moretti. It looks a lot like yours, only yours is nicer looking... er, finer.  ;D The link is http://www.shopwiki.com/_Carlo+Moretti+Murano+Glass+Pitcher+Jug+Yellow+Cased

It is much more attractive than we thought and the jug goes to dark blue at the base and is much larger than we thought.

Will make a great dining table water jug.

thanks again Anita.
