Unusual LAMP!
« on: October 10, 2005, 10:33:56 AM »
Hi again Everyone!
This lamp I have had for a few years now, but have no idea of a maker either. I just really liked it because of its color and design. It has an iridescent "look", but it looks more like a mercury/oil spot "rainbow" colors when looking at it up close.

It is really hard to describe, but I included a close up pic. It also looks to be cased with clear glass on the outside.

It is very heavy and thick when looking at it from the bottom. Any ideas?
Thanks again!
Javier

Stunning Javier but I don't have a clue.
Seems vintage certainly ...40s or 50s latest is my guess.
The fittings look American but that doesn't mean to say the glass is necessarily, but I can't place it stylistically in Europe either.
I wanted to say Murano, till I saw the irridescence ...and that kind of put a stop to that idea.
I hope others will have more of an idea as anything more from me will be pure speculation which is not always helpful.
Pete

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the comment!
When I bought it I thought is was a Murano piece too, but when I got it home I saw it was nothing like I had seen before and made me wonder who it was by. I tried looking to see if it was signed anywhere, but no luck.
What really got me was the blue waves on it. I really liked that.
