...   Bernard, this reminds me of those ermmmm vases, were they?.... that you had at Harrogate Glass Fair when we met you there.... are they the same maker?   ...

Anne — Yes, they were Blowzone.

Thanks Bernard, I thought there was a striking similarity from what I could remember of them. Do you have pics of them still as Michelle may be interested to see them in comparison to her piece?

that would be great if you have. I have seen some of his work before at fair maily frogs and a couple of vases but didnt link them as this is quite different to what i had seen also i think they had all been signed. Does anybody know dates for this vase ie when he started producing them and when the line finished (if it has?)
again many thanks
michelle

Michelle — Start with the Blowzone website here, particularly the Archive section.

And a variation of this design (two eyes) appears to still be in use on mass produced bottles by the German company Kefla http://www.kefla.de/product_info.php?language=en&info=p88_borduno-face-bottle-500-ml.html& . I have been cherishing an example (pics below) I picked up a few years back but seeing as I could get a brand new one for less than 2 euro I better change my pension plans.

I've emailed Kefla-Glas - maybe they'll tell us - we can only try.
