Kosta Boda candlestick
« on: July 02, 2009, 04:42:44 PM »
I was wondering about a name for this candlestick and designer (so I can sound knowledgable when I sell it). :24:

Reminds me of a set from the original Superman film, probably where Superman kept his Cryptonite.

Many thanks, John.

Thank you Anne.

I have to admit to not searching on the message board before posting (I did look elsewhere on t'internet, promise).  I think I will try it out and if it looks as good as Ivo suggests maybe it's a keeper.

John.

Browsing older threads...
I´ve got a larger, mould-blown version of this candleholder. Think it´s signed
G. Wärff. I´ll post pictures tomorrow.  :)

I have one of these sitting in front of me on my coffee table.  It's beautiful when lit up with a votive.  Mine is unmarked, but I've always suspected it was Kosta.  Now I know for sure!

I think may be called "Igloo".

Here it is. It´s ca. 12cm tall and wide and weighs a ton (read: >2kg - that´s, where my kitchen
scales end). It´s signed `Kosta 67513 G. Wärff´. Does anyone know, whether the numbers
indicate a certain date of manufacture?

Thanks for the name, Dorian! It´s described as ´Polar´ in ´The Kosta Boda Book Of Glass´.
See (scroll down) picture of the book in question in this ebay auction:

Glad I could finally be of some use.  Usually I'm just needing information and have none to give.  Cheers! :hiclp:

The Kosta Boda Book Of Glass was the title for the 1986 trade catalogue, rather than it being a reference book proper, That will at least give you an approximate period of production, Dirk, or at least a window in to it.
