Moser Type Vase?
« on: July 03, 2009, 10:04:49 PM »
I picked this up today & was going through Baldwin's Moser II book & found a couple that are very close in form. Did others like Harrach make this same style? Thanks, Ken

This style was very popular in Bohemia, and massively produced up to now. I would not look for high level glassworks like Moser or Harrach,  it could be produced in Crystalex Nový Bor in case of older glass or in any glass rafinery very recently.

Thanks Jindrich, thats what we call gift shop Moser over here & its relatively easy to spot if you have some experience, the gold is new & excessive for the piece (way over the top), the enameling/decals are overly large & the scale of the pieces are large to draw ones attention...its off base for legit Moser plus its all over the place in malls. Thats why I use Baldwin's Moser references, however Moser did partner with a couple of Italian firms at times plus Harrach made competitive products that are confusing & even though some are in Balwin's thats where I need help trying to distinguish between them.  I do appreciate the links...helps see what they are bringing out so it can be studied.  Ken

Hi Ken,
in case of doubts "is it Moser" is always better than to browse books just directly ask Moser.

www.moser.cz

Their support works perfect and they have correct evidence about old pieces as well. Therefore I had put Moser out of my scope - there is nothing to discover, just ask Moser and finito :-)

Here is their direct link:
Can I have my formerly purchased item identified by Moser?
Please send us a product photo and a shot of the company’s logo on the bottom of the product at customerservice [at] moser-glass [dot] com, fax them at +420 353 449 619 or mail them at the address MOSER, a.s., Kpt. Jaroše 46/19, 360 06 Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.

Let me know their judge than.
Jindrich

Thanks again Jindrich, but I do have a question regarding "Please send us a product photo and a shot of the company’s logo on the bottom of the product". There is no signature....so will the still respond to a question?  Ken

Ken, do not worry, send them the best pictures of your piece you have.

The logo issue is mentioned for fakes - you see Moser signature but you have doubts. Older pieces had not been signed at all.

OK Jindrich I heard from Moser, sorry for the delay but it took a few days to get the answer. Not theirs according to specialists, appears to be older design (anywhere from 1890 to 1920) & from that area, but manufacturer could be any number of plants. Close but no cigar. Ken
