hmmmm i am never sure whether this is Italian or French....from the base pic i would hazyard a guess at French....any ideas pls.

I would agree, the base does not strike me as Italian...  What about Czech or Scandinavian....  Is it Alexandrite?

  OOOHHH!!! Lovely centrepiece! I'll bet it looks gr8 displayed, don't know who made it but I like!  could be a designer who saw Geoffrey Baxters design no. 9414 from 1957 whitefriars and based it on that(?)

Or quite possibly the other way around - some of Geoffrey Baxter's designs were influenced by the designs coming from Scandinavia at the same time.

It certainly looks like neodymium glass anyway.

hi there and thanks for the input.....would be nice if is is Czech ....but then i will continue looking to find a similar.The color is so striking and in direct sunlight is comes alive.
