Colour change glass vase
« on: August 12, 2009, 09:28:37 AM »
Can anyone give me any information about this glass vase? IN natural light it is purple, and in artificial light it changes to a blue colour.  How does it do that, and who made glass like this?

It's glass containing neodymium. See here for a nice article http://www.mindspring.com/~reyne/neowhatsis.html. Lots of companies and countries make it and it has many "tradenames."

It is "alexandrit" glass, some more details you can find here.

The origin of your piece is not known to me.
