The bird on the left is a JI Co bird. The JI stands for Jordan Important. They were a NY company that imported glass from Murano. From what I've heard, they had a furnace in Murano, but also bought from other companies. The beak and crest of the bird are very typical of JI Co pieces.

I've seen the bird on the right, but don't know who made it. I've seen these types of pieces called Murano and Italian, but I haven't seen one with a label yet, so I'm not sure.

One correction -- JI stands for Jordan Import, although I am sure they were very important.  :)

I was going to suggest to Kaz that she could get a good start on identifying these birds by looking at Anita's site (the link is under Anita's sig). I think all the birds are Murano, except for the squat little one that looks most likely Scandinavian. I also thought about Jordan Imports, but there's less chance of those pieces showing up in Britian, I would have thought. Still Murano, still the same company that made JI stuff, but perhaps it orginally didn't have the JI label. The other suggestion was Kaz to look at Shannon's JI site, which would show her more Murano birds.

Good suggestion, David. The link to Shannon's site is http://gallery.blancoglass.com. It doesn't have your birds, but you can see an assortment of similar pieces.
