Loetz or Caithness? ID = Heron Glass (UK)
« on: October 18, 2005, 05:30:29 PM »
I saw this vase sitting on somebody's stall and I'm now wondering if I should've left it there. I was in two minds about it being Caithness or something else.

It was cheap so I bought it anyway.

In my experience, if it looks like something special it's usually Caithness.

It appears to be modern. There is no ware to the base or the metal.  :)

Any comments appreciated. Thank you.  :)

Those mushrooms bring back fond memory's.

"It's a me Mario, press Start to play".

Jumping down pipes and collecting mushrooms, if only it was that easy.

Anyway, Yes, heron glass is contemporary so it turned out to be a red heron for me.

Tigerchips, don't be disheartened because of it. Heron are working contemporary glassblowers, (as is Adrian Sankey also here in Cumbria).  Pieces from both appear on the secondary market and find buyers as well as being sold new. Their designs are very attractive... I was looking at some Heron Glass in a shop recently which has a look of Nazeing about it.
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd
