Is this a Holmegaard Per Lutken Arne bowl?
« on: August 31, 2009, 01:22:31 PM »
Nic's fab Holmegaard Resource site has a bowl in this shape and colour here: http://www.holmegaardresource.com/lut_50s_011.html (but in two larger sizes) and I'm wondering if this small one is also Arne please?

Size: is 110mm diameter and 45mm deep. Base is flat and ground matte not shiny  polished.

Any help with pinning this one down would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

Lovely colour - but not Holmegaard, as far as I know, and definitely not an Arne (later renamed Provence) series bowl. Arne series are of a much thinner glass, have pushed-in bases, and the rims are inverted.

This better-illustrates the series than my own attempt: http://www.holmegaard.com/web/eng/wm3.asp?id=133

EDIT: Just had a second look at your photos - is the rim inverted on yours? At first glance it just looks like very thick glass, but on reflection I'm not not sure. But I think the base-finish, either way, discards Holmegaard from the running.

The base on mine is different as you say, but the rim does curve in slightly.  I'll have to keep on looking for a maker. Thanks for the info Nic, much appreciated.
