Hi, I bought this vase at a car boot sale today, the seller told me she had had it for a number of years so I took a gamble and bought it, is it an Ikea special?
Thanks in advance, David

Hello All,
further to my request on an ID for this vase I have now been told it could be a ' dimple ' vase by G Baxter, are there any Whitefriars experts that could confirm or deny this
Cheers, David.

I have no idea, but while you are waiting for someone who does you could browse through the catalogues at www.whitefriars.com here http://www.whitefriars.com/catalogues/index.php. Even if you do not find it you will become more familiar with the glass they made which can only be useful in the long run.

Good luck and enjoy the search. Have a look at www.whitefriars.org too.

Nigel, your memory is excellent, the carafe is shown on page 227 Millers 20th Century Glass by Andy McConnell. Produced without stopper by Björkshult for Wuidart 1955-7 in two sizes. Interestingly this carafe was retailed with seven tumblers (one to cover the carafe).

Booger - just got here too late- I know this one  ;D   As has already been pointed out it's by Bjorkshult and is a stopperless carafe.

Although it's illustrated in Nigel's book with a quite snug-looking stopper.

In one of the books I've got (can't remember which one offhand) it says that it's stopperless but came with a set of small tumblers, one of which you would invert over the top to form a lid (like a water carafe type of thing).

The stopperless reference is in McConnell.
