Is this Seguso please? Or... ?
« on: August 30, 2009, 05:21:06 PM »
Can anyone tell me if this snazzy geode style pot is possibly Seguso please?  It's got a gridded base which I've seen on other glass...if that's any help pinning down a maker?

How large is it? It looks a lot like one of the pieces made by Mandruzzato. I don't know what the bases of these pieces look like, though. Most of the things I've seen have had smooth bases.

It could be a version of the ashtray shown on this page:

http://www.mandruzzato.ve.it/ProdPerFoto_Eng.asp?IDFoto=4&Cat=49

They also show a color combination available of Blue / Amber. The dimensions of their piece are on the page.... I can't judge the size of yours without knowing which of the approximate 40 species of mole he is and the age of the occupant!!   :24:

I also do not know what their bases look like, but they do some stuff with textured sides, so a grid underfoot would not surprise me on some of their pieces. It would also reduce the cost of finish work as they would not have to put as much time into polishing the underside completely....  ....

It's 12.5cm x 7.5cm x 6cm (height)

It made me laugh so much that Anita didn't mention the mole!  :24: ;D :hiclp:

Not sure if it's Mandruzato...I know the textured sided pieces you mean Craig, I'm selling a lovely one this week.  :)

...not sure I can put 'mole sized' on an ebay description...(but I'd like to!)   ^-^  ;D

Actually I was going to call it a mole bath, but by the time I got back from Mandruzzato, I forgot. We should definitely put this one in the zoo! I bet Alessandro didn't even know he made a mole bath.

I found this "Seguso" piece on eBay that has the grid like your bowl. It is #230369514538. I checked the other Seguso things the seller was offering. They looked like Mandruzzato to me.

If it is Mandruzzato, can I put your picture in the zoo?  :chky:

I'll send you a decent copy for the zoo if you like Anita.  :D

Yup, I saw the 'Seguso' one on Ebay yesterday.  That seller is doing some very canny buying and selling!  ;) I'd been using my one for keeping my lighter in beside the fire and thought maybe I'd better start looking after it...lol!   ::)

I was going to ask what the little critter was, but you answered with mole size before I got the chance.  I just want to know what you fed the little guy to get him to pose that way......

Yes, I would love a picture for the zoo. We'll call it the Important Mandruzzato Mole Bath... as soon as we know for sure it is Mandruzzato. Be sure to send me your complete name so I can credit the picture.
