Murano or Flygfors? and how do you tell the difference??
« on: October 21, 2005, 01:33:42 PM »
Can anyone help with identifying this piece please?  I'm not sure if its Murano or Flygfors (Kosta, or other?) who made similar looking pieces with pulled rims.  It has a flat base and there are no markings.

What sort of things do I need to look for in order to tell the difference?

Thank you for your help :P

A neat little trick from Flygsfors is the signature; it is - As far as I know/To the best of my knowledge - always present. And a visual little hint is the white thread around the edge - so you can spot a real Flygsfors even if it is sitting 10 stalls away.

Someone showed me a little pink Flygsfors bowl a while ago unsigned.  It was a second, with a slightly imperfect rim.

Here is my Flygsfors, a very small piece  4 1/2 inches long 3 inches high

And here is the bottom with the marks, hope you can make them out.

When Ivo mentioned the white thread, I had to go look and sure enough there it is. Terry

Hi Ivo,
I have about 4 Flygsfors pieces and none have that signature. They all have Flygsfors and Coquile underneath.
