You are quite right, it is clear glass with a crinkly finish over the top. I hadn't looked at it too closely!! No wonder it looks different to my green glass, it IS different.
My Mum bought it in an antique centre on a day trip to Suffolk, it had a label on it saying it was a 1930s piece. She got a bit upset when I told her it was not that old. She feels a bit conned out of her £15. But I've told her in future to be a bit wary of what sellers tell her as they don't always know exactly what they are selling. I don't think I would have paid all that for it, but it was a nice thought as she knows I collect 30s glass.     Cheryl.

She wasn't overly conned and the design dates from the 1930s, just not with crinkles. The lidded jars are not that common. Does the lid have a spoon hole?

My Mum will be pleased to hear the price wasn't too bad. It does have a spoon hole, its in lovely condition with the gold stripe still intact. I think its just me being tight with my money!!!!  I do like a nice car boot bargain for 50p. I bought a blue Bagley lidded cheese dish in the Carnival pattern in brilliant condition yesterday for 50p. My house is getting over stuffed with my glass habit, but its fun and it gets me out of the house.    Cheryl.

That'll be the pickle jar then, which sometimes had a metal lid. The biscuit barrel, the pickle jar and the celery vase all used the same base. (I wouldn't have paid that much for it either  )

It might have been the covered jam though, depending on how tall it was. I have two covered pots smaller than the celery / pickle size one Christine, one with a spoon slot and one without,

My lidded dish is 4 inches high (including knob on top) and 5 inches across.   cheryl

I have a Pickle jar with no lid but Hunting Scene on it.
