hi guys we came across this by chance  today. after our other two peices that were identify to us by you guys. we just wonder if there is any info any one can give on this peice. as this one is etched with the words celery. and is 5 inch high. thanks kim & ed

well we had followed the discussion about the names of the different pieces but our piece is clearly named on the side in capitals CELERY and wondered if this was unusual as nobody else mentioned their pieces were named.

also did they make the full range from the 1930's or were pieces introduced piecemeal?

Marking "vases" celery was a tax avoidance issue as table ware wasn't classed a luxury. Do a search for celery on here and you'll find more examples. Little is known about the 1935-1939 range but it did not have the coloured bands sometimes seen and the glass has a greenish tinge. The war then stopped production. The 1946-1953 table ware range was large - the 1950 catalogue has 18 items, although some of these items are variation of another (e.g., a celery with a lid can be a pickle or a biscuit barrel). Decoration and metal fitments started in about 1950.
