Purple/white flashed vase - Bohemian?
« on: September 07, 2009, 04:37:37 PM »
This type of glass is way out of my comfort zone - I wonder if anyone here could offer any info on it.  It's a nice little thing and I love purple so I do really like it but would like to know, if poss, who might have made it and when.  Has a load of age related wear to the base (and dirt inside as you can see from the base pic  :-[).

I wonder if anyone will mind if I bump up this thread from last year?  When I originally posted it it got pushed straight onto page two within a very short time so probably didn't actually get seen by many people at the time.

Does anyone have any ideas at all?  I'm totally stumped.  I would appreciate any thoughts on this one.

Cheers mucho.

Double cased, cut to clear makes me think of NovĂ˝ Bor. The colours look quite unusual compared
to the 20th century stuff, so possibly 19th? Just thinking loud as you said you appreciate any thoughts.  ;D

Thank you Dirk - much appreciated - I shall investigate Novy Bor :-)  Another member very kindly contacted me by email to say that the decor is called 'Borussia' however Googling variations of the words 'Borussia' 'Bohemian' and  'Glass' only serves to bring up loads and loads of Borussia Dortmund and Bohemian football club websites and fansites - how frustrating! LOL

Hi Pip, whilst flipping through my copy of Schranky Vuni just now, I saw some perfume flasks in this same style and thought the info given about them might be helpful in tracking down your piece. The 3 pieces in the book are stated to be Bohemian, 1840s-1860s, but not attributed to any one producer. The companies named as producing this type of work were: Meyr's Neffen glassworks in Lenora, J Lotz at Annin & Debrnik, C. Stolzle on the Bohemia/Austria border, Harrach at Novy Svet. Also by the refineries of W Hoffman in Prague, the WA Hellmich company in Volfartice, and J Grohmann in Chribska, along with others in Novy Bor and Kamenicky Senov regions, and the Jablonec n. N. region - those named were  Blaschka und Sohne, and F Unger in Hodkovice, I Palme & Co in Prachen, and J Zahn & Co. in Zamenicky Senov.  Hope this helps. :)
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

:o gosh thanks for that Anne!  Lots and lots of info for me to get stuck into - brilliant  :hiclp:

Thanks again everyone - I really needed help with this one - the only things I knew any with certainty was that it's old (tons of base wear) and Bohemian!

Pip, I hesitate to even try and contribute to this thread given I've never seen anything like the vase you've posted, but I came across this on the v  and a site
