Always thought this looks like a specimen jar or something,nice thick good quality glass 8 inches tall????Keith,i.d please if possible.

I suspect a specimen jar would be cylindrical in shape, and possibly have gradations on the side.  This, I suspect, is a generic bud vase (or solifleur, if you want to be posh)....
