I do know that this is described as 'matt black glass', copying the Wedgwood 'basalt' pottery, but thats where my knowedge stops. I know Davidson produced some matt black items between 1920 and 1940, but have the feeling this design looks possibly older. Has a sort of funerial look - cud always have my ashes kept in here!
Regrettably, no marks or Nos., and needs a clean. Think also this shud be a potential candidate for the years ugly vase award. Cud it be Bagley or Molineaux, Webb?? and might it have originally had a flower frog?? Size 17 cms. tall and about 21.25 cms. at the widest. Grateful for anyone's thoughts, and thanks for looking.
