malcolm sutcliffe charger
« on: September 10, 2009, 05:23:22 PM »
Hi there
I bought this signed Malcolm Sutcliffe charger from quite a posh charity shop yesterday in Cambridge, im struggling to get an idea of a date when it would have been made.
I know that he was working at a glass studio in Cambridge but i dont know if he would have been signing his name or a studio name also the dates.
I would imagine this has a little bit of age to it 20 years plus as it has age wear to base
can anybody give me any more info or somewhere i can get the info. Ive been onto his site http://www.malcolm-sutcliffe.co.uk/ ive also checked on ebay but there is nothing like this and all seems to be brand new items on buy it nows
I got a little over-excited with this one i think and paid quite a bit for it (well it is for me anyway, especially when im a little unsure of the artist, £45)
33cms in diameter and slants down slightly

Malcolm emailed me back, he was slightly perplexed as he couldnt remember making it but said it was one from when he worked at cambridge (1983 to 1985). He also said the signiature is unusual as he signs on the base and this one is half way between the base and rim, although he believes it is one of his pieces.
