Large Satin Glass Art Deco Vase - ID = Rosice Cz
« on: September 17, 2009, 09:00:23 AM »
Hello

(Mod: This 're-posting' is now the original post as I've removed the first ID request for this item.   This thread had replies, the other one didn't)

I don't know if it's the 'done thing' to repost these requests, but I would love to know the manufacturer of this vase.  It's not on http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/index2.html and I don't know where else to look.  I have made efforts to search the net before asking.

It stands 8" tall and 7" across the top, with flower frog in situ.

Stu.

Hi Stu,
unfortunately no information on your vase... The best way to draw attention to
your request would be to simply reply to your own post. This way we don´t have
double posts here.  :)

As Dirk said Stu, please don't re-post the same items, even if it's to a different forum under the GMB umbrella.  After a week of no replies, just add a 'bump please' to the reply box and it'll put that posting at the top of the list again.  If you would like a thread moved to a different Forum, just use the reply box to ask a Mod to do it.   :D I've deleted your original post for this item now.   :) :)

I wonder if maybe anyone feels like even having a guess?

Is it a fair comment to say that Sowerby seemed to favour the frosted satin glass, I wonder?

I think it's amazing that I can buy such an item from a car boot sale in Bristol and it gets people flummoxed.  I have only been interested in glass for a couple of months, and I appear to have found an item that has you all beaten!   :chky:

Satin glass was made by many firms, not just Sowerby, Stu.  My feeling is it's not English, I'd be looking towards a Czech or German maker I think.... have you browsed Pamela's collection to see if she has a match?

Thanks Anne.  I browse Pamela's site even when I haven't got something to ID!  :)

I appreciate the direction - I was thinking Czech.  Do you know if Pamela accepts donations of glass to her museum?  I would be quite keen on doing that.

Unless Pamela´s already seen this thread I can offer to ask her personally?
I´m going to visit an old school friend in Bremen today and will visit her
Pressglas-Pavillon on Tuesday. Yippie!
