Is it a crown or a helmet at the top of the motif?

Can only describe it as a 'barrel' with a cross and orb on top with crossed keys behind, close up included,Keith.

Possibly a religious symbol as the swordlike key would be quite a strong one combining power and knowledge, the crown/mitre looks distinctly non-English, East or Southern Europe and non-islamic middle eastern are possibilities. Another possibility would be masonic. Track down the symbology and you will find more about the glass.

Is it etched or transfer decoration? Shot of base may help on glass.

Isn't it a Papal tiara; and are not those the keys of St Peter?
