Iridescent pair vases with different finish. - Kralik ? Rindskopf?
« on: September 28, 2009, 06:54:35 PM »
One of 3 pairs of vases from this week's carboot haul. Not sure if these are modern or not or if they are attributable to a maker . I was surprised by the different finish, one is glossy with a seemingly more modern finish the other has a deeper iridescence and a matt finish. These are 22cm high.
Any thoughts?   Thank you.
David.

They strike me as Rindskopf.  I would say around 1910 or so... possibly a little later.

Car boot sale??!  Good grief!  Lucky you!

I've added a couple of names to your thread title.  Mike Moir could tell you what these are I expect.

Thanks Craig.
Yes Max, if  they are that's what they are!  I've had a great season...best ever this year! I can hardly believe all I've found. I'm the only one who seems to buy glass...Shh!
I bought the pair of Vasart, these two ,an enamelled decanter (both on recent posts) and another pair of cased vases I'll post later....all for £12. I got bettter piecs than I did with the £100 I spent at auction the day before.
It was nearly even better... a huge Alexandrite jug was on sale for  a tenner I was about to pay when I noticed the fresh crack (which had happened on the journey to the sale).
Thanks David

Hi

Thanks for the plug Max but I'd say Craig, Warren and Wayne  (and no doubt others) know as much if not more than me.

Craig I too was about to plump for Rindskopf when I went to check my photo records -and on my selling site, at the moment, I have a very similar shaped vase in a classic Kralik Crackelé finish.

So I'm going for Kralik

Max I assume you added the Kralik? Rindskopf? To the title -so I reckon you get the prize

cheers

I didn't mean to leave them out, I think it was because I'd just seen you this weekend.  :)

I'll send an image to Alfredo. I have looked through all of my archives for an image, and have also looked at several sites I frequent (yours included Mike) and I keep having this nagging little voice telling me I have seen this exact shape in a Rindskopf decor....  but I may be wrong.... certainly would not be the first time.....  or the last.....

I will still continue to look for the image that is burnt in my mind that keeps telling me Rindskopf....    ;D
I know I have seen this exact shape before.

Phew!

Its feels good when you stick your neck out on an attribution and then Alfredo agrees

Craig -would love to see your matching Rindskopf piece if you ever track it down.

Having said all that I have seen at least one piece which, after close consultation with Alfredo, turned out to be Kralik copying Rindskopf in both finish and shape!

cheers

M

Max - but you spotted it on my site first -that's just about what all the rest of us do -find another reference!

Thanks everyone for all your knowledgable replies.I wondered about both Kralik and Rindskopf but after looking at several sites, mine didn't seem to match in quality. So I wondered if they were more recent. The glossy finish of one of them put made me wonder too... is that unusual?
Thank you for sending an image to Alfredo..(I've been on here long enough to have learnt a little of his reputation).

I just split off the Legras part of this topic as contained good information that deserved its own thread.   :)
