Royal Copenhagen / Holmegaard (?)
« on: December 05, 2009, 02:16:47 AM »
I have recently bought this lovely decanter.

Height: approx. 21 cm

The label says Royal Copenhagen. Someone told me that Holmegaard made this decanter. Is that true?

Is this then a collaboration between Royal Copenhagen and Holmegaard?
Was this decanter made for any special occassion? When I saw the blue elephant I was reminded of
Carlsberg brewery and their famous elephant.

Anyone who can tell me a little more about my decanter. When it was made and who designed it?

'Noah' series decanter, designed by Michael Bang c.1989/1990 for Holmegaard.

Royal Copenhagen and Holmegaard were, from 1985 until recently, part of the Royal Scandinavia group, and during that time quite a lot of Holmegaard-designed glass was distributed under the 'Royal Copenhagen Crystal' banner to boost its profile.
