Hi again,
Here is a vase that I purchased recently. Before buying I thought it was Czech in origen, possibly by Barenek. Remarkably my friend John (glassobsessed)  had purchased the identical vase, at a different flea market, on the same day that I had purchased mine and at almost exactly the same purchase price.
As you can see the vase looks purple but changes to dark blue under different lighting conditions.
It stands 6" tall and is quite heavy at 1.5kg. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bryn

Hi Michelle,
Yes of course, I'll do some in the morning. I'm up to my knees in screaming grandkids at the moment so handling precious glass would not be my wisest move. :spls:
Thanks,
Bryn

Ahem.....

This one has a concave polished pontil around this central area the base has been ground and polished so that the vase sits flat. Evidence of a fair bit of wear here. Lightweight compared to Bryn's at 1.3kg, same height. The area around the rim is purple, the 12 ribs and base blue.

ohh they are gorgeous.., i still think they are czech and i think chribska did have polished pontils on some items not sure on which other companies did.. will have to wait for one of the czech brains to spot it
would one of you wonderful mods pop 'czech?' in the title, that might hopefully draw jindrich, marcus or one of the others to have a peek
thanks

I think this was the grubbiest bit of glass I have ever bought and had no real idea about condition because of the dirt. Wasn't even sure what colour it was. ;D

Hi,
John's pictures are virtually the same as mine although the blue swirls seem a little more pronounced on John's. My vase also has the central concave polished pontil mark.
I have rechecked the weight on our kitchen scales and it still says 1.5kg.
Cheers,
Bryn

Hi,
I have just looked at my copy of Mark Hills copy of Hi Sklo Lo Sklo and realised how similar the swirls on my bowl/vase is to the Skrdlovice Andromeda Baranek vase on page 28. Could this also come from the same range I wonder?

Bryn, I don't think these are Andromeda, too many ribs and they twist around the wrong way. They are not as 'chunky' either.
