Not a bad buy. The layered pieces can be very difficult to attribute. My first thought was maybe Murano or Czech, but when I saw the frosty base, I wasn't sure at all. If no one in the Murano group knows, perhaps we can switch the thread over to the general glass message board.

I think it is Czech..... Color usage and style say Czech to me. A closer image of the underside would be good. Is the underside flat?  Maybe a mod could move it out of Murano into glass ID to get some other eyes.....

Looks to me like the base was originally polished but years of wear have left it looking a bit 'frosty'.

The dark blue colour in the bottom of the vase reminds me of a similar use of colour in the base of this vase http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,25658.0.html

Thanks for input everyone...so i should stop referring to it as a Murano piece and now refer to it as my Czech piece???...also...the base is polished...unfortunately my camera is not good with polished base shots...i took several and that was the best...it is completely polished flat...and as the pic shows...wear to the base...the base isn't frosted but it is clear...i hope this helps...

Based on general feel, I thought this piece looked more Czech than Murano. Because I couldn't connect it to a specific line or maker, I'd thought i'd wait and see what Jindrich or Marcus said.  It would be a good idea if this were in the general glass section.

As you are in Aus, you also shouldn't discount the possibility that it could be Japanese.
