Arno Arte Toscana Vases...
« on: October 09, 2009, 08:45:17 AM »
Does anyone have any infomation or could point me in the right direction for the maker of these vases???... ;D...i got them dirt cheap...unfortunately the orange one is broken...but have kept it for the label...i accidently smashed the rim when packing it up in a hurry to move...*sighs...label reads...Genuine Hand Made In Italy Arno Arte Toscana...odd looking building on the label...could be a glassworks building!!!???...in a square with a scroll for Arte Toscana...gold label...the blue one isn't labeled but were bought as a pair...both pieces have a thin layer of white glass in the middle...followed by two layers in different shades over the white on each side...has also been encased in clear glass...each layer is so thin you can barely notice...thankfully the broken one showed me this!!!...heavy pieces for such thin glass...both about 23cm high (except for the orange which is somewhat shorter now...*sighs)...just over 7.5 in dia...an amazing 3-4mm in thickness...smooth indented bases but not completely polished...any help would be great... ;D

One of the many makers in and around Empoli. All have merged and moved out, so research is seriously hampered...

Hi,

Your pieces are made in Tuscany, Italy.  There are a lot of glasshouses on the mainland of Italy as well.  Nice pieces.
