Polar bear late 1970s
« on: October 17, 2009, 08:30:34 AM »
Hi
Does anyone recognise this polar bear please? It dates from the late 1970s, is solid polished glass with a bit of matt glass where his claws would be in real life. It is turning to the right.
Thank you
Deb

These Magnor polar bears on eBay remind me of yours: http://cgi.ebay.com/Pair-of-Art-Glass-Polar-Bears-Magnor-Norway_W0QQitemZ140353535912QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item20adb8ffa8
Your picture goes off the screen for me when I enlarge, so I couldn't see the feet. The eBay bears are small. How large is yours? I don't know when the Magnor ones were made. I've seen quite a few bears that look similar to this one. Thought I would post this listing to show one possibility.

Thank you for the ebay link.

The bear is wrapped in a storage box and a bit inaccessible. From memory it is between 15 and 20 cm long (closer to 20 cm).

My bear has rough frosted or matt glass where her claws would be.

I can see the photo problem, however I can scroll across it (using Safari on a Mac) which gives a huge close up of the feet.

Here is the picture resized, and also a close-up of the feet.
