Unknown Lamp Base ?
« on: October 18, 2009, 05:02:19 PM »
Friend of mine acquired this recently.  He knows I like my glass and he thought it quite unique.  I am assuming it is a lamp base, the top part unscrews, stands 7", and hollow.  Has what looks to be a hand threaded design on it.  Can anyone enlighten me as to maker and poss age? No idea where to start looking for this.   Thanks

It is German from the sixties - but I forgot if Gralglashütte or Peill. The style also looks like Rune Strand for Sea Glasbruk (use search feature for earlier thread) but I'm fairly confident it is German.

Gralglas made a lot of vases with this ´irregular threading´ decoration.
ebay - example
Have you searched the base for a Peill & Putzler mark? It´s a double ´P´,
one mirror inverted, back to back. Often it´s very hard to find.

As for the mark on the base, I have had a good look with my magnifier but will look a little harder tomorrow in natural light
