Georgian Shrub decanter.
« on: October 31, 2009, 03:41:41 PM »
I bought some loveluy old glass recently. Much of it Georgian. I know little about where these pieces may have been made or exactly how old (and how you tell). Any clues , tips or ideas welcome.
Thank you.
Here is the first piece a shrub decanter.

Andy McConnell has the stopper as a 'lozenge' c1770-1820. (The Decanter , an illustrated History of Glass from 1650)

No idea on the 'shrub' ??

Thanks again,
I went by the stopper for my guess , thanks for the confirmation.
I know about the shrub. It is a orange and sugar cane fermented rum. Different recipes I believe . I heard it is illegal now.
Cheers
David
