Uranium glass asymmetrical geode
« on: November 05, 2009, 07:11:07 PM »
This lovely large heavy asymmetrical geode bowl came with several other Murano pieces.  Its taken pride of place and outshines everything near it as it glows continuously what ever the light conditions are 8).  I've seen some similar bowls with a Cenedese attribution and just wonder if this too could be?

I'm still loving this piece and as I'm currently cataloguing all my glass for my children, just wondered if anyone had any views on this piece?
After all these years since first posting, I still haven't got a definite attribution, but think it is most likely by Antonio da Ross for Vetreria Gino Cenedese & Co. Murano, Italy, c.1960s.
What does anyone think please?

I can't click on photobucket links, Anne. They mess my pc up.
It sounds like Cenedese!
I seem to be able to spot that maker, sometimes.
There's a sort of extra clarity and a very subtle way the sommerso works.

Sorry about the dodgy links :-[ - I haven't used Photobucket for years.  I'll take some new images and post them later.

Not the best images I'm afraid, but hopefully enough ;)

Cenedese sounds very reasonable, though not in the style of da Ross to my eye. That tight and well defined thin layer of colour is a sign of quality, the same can be seen in the following bowl.

Many thanks for comments :-*.  I'm happy with Cenedese.
Just one more unattributed piece to go.  ::) I might just bump it up once more.

I don't think my guts reckon Da Ros is as "perfect" as they think other Cenedese is.  :)
