Large 1920s/30s Footed Bubbled Bowl w/ Marvered Colour
« on: November 12, 2009, 01:50:21 PM »
This is the green bowl referenced later on in this thread: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,30007.msg162595.html#msg162595

It's 270mm in diameter, 145mm in height. The glass is clear, with most of the bubbles on the inner side of the glass, with coloured chips marvered onto the outside surface.

The pontil is large, circular and central.

I've not had much experience with it but the surface treatment seems to discount Walsh, even though there are near-identical forms in the factory pattern books.

Thanks, Nigel.

Does the marvered colour eliminate any of the other possibles you had on your list for the pink one, do you know?

A similar shaped bowl was also made by Webb in the 30s.  I suppose it is unlikely if the colour is marvered in, but have you checked it under UV?

My UV lamp is kaput at the moment. Replacing it is on my 'to do' list.

It could very well be UV reactive, it's certainly a ferocious green in daylight.
