« on: November 13, 2009, 07:33:14 PM »
Hi   I've had these deco candle holders a while now and have never seen any others, They are 4 inches tal (10cms). The bases are hollow. They glow brightly under a uv lamp. Any info on maker and age very welcome.    Cheryl.

They are from Anne's GTS Mystery Set 31.

See: http://www.glasstrinketsets.com/cms15/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=188:mystery-set-31&catid=28:mysteries&Itemid=52

I'm also posting a separate photo of a similar set in blue for instant reference.

3 photos of an amber Mystery set 31, this time showing the lidded pots in two sizes (the lid finials being a distinctive flattened 'sail' or 'blade' shape).

(Permission for the re-use of these photos on GMB granted by nursegreenwhippet).

Also a photo of a matching lidded trinket pot in pink glass, the base rim clearly marked CZECHOSLOVAKIE.

Photo of an amber lidded pot also showing the base rim marked with CZECHOSLOVAKIE.

(Permission for the re-use of the image on GMB granted by bluecowg).

Also a photo of a matching tray and lidded pot in green uranium glass (to match Cheryl's candlesticks in the first post of thread). This set has different candlesticks to the norm, however, though the colour match seems good. I have photos of these 'odd' or 'variant' candlesticks in other colours and I will post them separately in case they are actually mismatched with GTS Mystery Set 31.

I'm pretty sure the green set is a marriage Fred, but it is a good colour match, so maybe from the same maker...  I've seen the original one in other colours too, I'll try and find the ref pics. I'm trying to rationalise all the photos I have into folders and get them sorted so they can be used, as they are currently spread across hundreds of folders on 6 disk drives!
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

Wondering if this was ever ID'd as I have just bought this set which appears to be the same design but on a small tray.
Any thoughts appreciated, John

I think the green tray is from another set entirely, John, although again possibly from the same manufacturer because of the good colour match between the pieces.

I have seen this tray in amber, pink blue and green (always unfrosted), and several times with similar accessories (but never in the same pattern as Mystery Set 31).

Here are photos of some of trays with accessories that would appear to ‘match’ it. The perfume flask and atomiser with the amber set still have part of an embossed foil label with ‘Bohemia’ on it. The finial on the lidded pot with the pink set has a large section broken from it, but it matches the finial on the blue and amber pots/ flasks.

Fred.
