Jindra - Can you tell me more about Rudolph Jurnikl (from Frydek-Mistek)?  I believe he is the cousin of my grandfather, Jeremy Jan Jurnikl and his brother, Michal Jurnikl.  My family lives in the United States but are very interested to learn more about him.   Many Thanks, Liz Smith

Hi Liz,
possibly I have some positive news for you.

Rudolf Jurnikl  (born 6.2 1928 - Frydek)
glass artist, apprenticeship in flat glass cuttin in Frydek in KaMa-Karel Matusek company (1942-1943), specialised school for Glassmaking in Kamenicky Senov - glass engraving (1945 - 1948), Academy of applied Arts Prague prof. Stipl (1948 - 1953) after research assistant at same academy, since 1960 designer Sklo Union (OBAS).

Mr. Jurnikl nowadays live in Prague, but he is almost blind and very ill (I have been told). I know personaly Mr. Vizner, he is his collegue from Sklo Union in 60ties and his old friend - he lived some time in his house in 1966-1967, perhaps I will be able to find more for you.

More details about his work you can find in Marcus Newhall book Sklo Union - Art Before Industry: 20th Century Czech Pressed Glass (www.sklounion.com)

Let me know if I can help you
Jindrich
