Vizner lens vase
« on: November 30, 2009, 10:29:35 PM »
I have a vase that looks exactly like the Frantisek Vizner lens vase pattern no 3236 from the CD accompanying Marcus Newhall's book. The only thing is, on the CD, it gives heights of 185mm and 230mm, and the vase I have is 280mm tall. It still has 4 rows of lenses, all clear. Is this just a variation on the same vase, or does it have a different pattern no?
All info welcomed.
Thank-you.

Frantisek Vizner has designed different "lens" patterns - see picures.

sorry - question of matting.

Originaly all pieces has been designed by Frantisek in clear. Matting was made in factory without asking artist, but it is still the same pattern. I have all clear, staggered matting or all lenses matted as well.

Thank-you!
My vase is the same design as the 3236-230 picture you showed except it is 280cm tall.
Thank-you for the clarification on the clear / opaque lenses.

Hi,
I have just measured the vase, it is 275mm tall, diameter is 105mm across the top and 75mm across the base.
I have attached a photo.
Very exciting if I have a vase you have not documented before!
Thanks
K

Here is it next to a Vladislav Urban vase to show scale.

Just to confirm sizes, I have the larger one too. Here is a photo of all four designs for relative size. I have just arrived home from a long motorway drive and too much coffee (I am feeling very twitchy) so the photo is not the best.

Thank you very much K and John,
this information is new for me, I will check with Frantisek  whether he knows about this size. Originaly this shape was designed 230 tall, 106 width at top. If possible I would like to please anybody who has this giant size for selling it to me. I can also axchange this piece for another Vizner or Sklo Union piece. I would like have complete Vizner's pressed glass collection.

Thank-you for the info.
I wasn't planning on selling the vase at the moment, but might do at some point in the future.
Best wishes
