triangular Sklounion pressed glass dishes - ID = Jablonecke sklo
« on: December 04, 2009, 06:57:19 PM »
I am thinking of giving these to a friend for a pressie and just wondered if anyone knew whether they are czechoslovakian (sklounion?) or more recent production?

They are a quite amazing turquoise colour - they are much more intensely coloured than the two Sklounion pieces I have. The base is what I think of as typical though (actually having relooked at it, perhaps not exactly the same, I'm now leaning towards modern :spls:)  and very similar to my two other pieces.  They are just under 4.5" at their longest and just over 3" at their widest

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
many thanks
m
Ps I do have Marcus's book but am not allowed to open it until Christmas

I too have the same dishes. Did you ever find out if they were modern or Czech ?

The bases of those dishes are not the same as the triangular dishes I have that I believe to be Sklo Union.

It is not in Marcus' great Sklo Union book because it is not Sklo Union (OBAS) piece but Jablonecke sklo n.p, Czechoslovakia, 60ties, possibly designed by Vaclav Hanus (*26.2.1924 , +24.10. 2009) .

And just to prove I was paying attention I picked up a pair of these in a lovely blue/green colour for 50p each today. Thanks Jindrich :)

Thank you so much Jindrich  :)
I gave them away  still, she's a lovely friend. But nothing I have comes near to the colour of the turquoise of these - they have a real glow to them.
