Yellow or green bubble vase (changes colour)
« on: December 08, 2009, 10:49:39 AM »
Curious, it's yellow in the daylight and lime green under fluorescent light. It has a controlled bubble decoration and is cased in clear glass. Italian maybe?

It's also yellow under a camera flash so i don't get it, maybe it's reacting to how much light there is.

Is it very lightweight?
I have a bottle a very similar shape, not the prettiest of things to my eyes - it's clear glass, with a background pattern of splodgy white bits, and trails of splodgey orange bits. A fairly complex thing, considering how thin the glass is. I'd say it was mould blown. It's quite big, over 12". Apart form that, I've not a clue. When Frank was here, he seemed very taken with it.
I'm quite curious, I do think they could be from the same stable.

This is my thing.

Looking closely at it, all the splodgy bits are white, the orange is trailed over it. It does not seem to be cased over that, but reblown, probably into a mould, with the neck being formed above that.

The shapes look very Empoli to me.

I don't suppose I'm surprised to hear that, Nic and Ivo, thanks!
Mine was £1 in a charity shop, bought for curiosity while I was still filling up with random curiosity. I don't like it nearly as much as the decorative tall stoppered bottles!

(I like Tiger's MUCH better!)

I have a large (12" tall) Empoli vase (at least I think it is :)  ) that is orange cased in clear that is a very similar shape and proportion to the Tiger's, but which has a slight 'waist' to it and a clear handle.  These both remind me of that.
Tiger if you wished to sell I would definitely be interested  :)  - I hope that's not impolite  :-[

Searching through Google, there are similar vases to yours described as 'Opaline Florence'.

I did find one the same shape as mine described as Empoli...

Very similar to mine (Empoli) - shown on far right.
A couple have made in Italy labels on.
