Hi,

Sorry, about this Sue, But 100% WMF Ikora IMHO  :)

3 things that say it isn't Mdina (you've outlined) then it isn't - if you are using my rule of thumb.

Wrong shape for Mdina.

The bulge at the base is not a Mdina feature.

Colour laid in differently to other Mdina, most notably the ochre, but I'd also query the blues.

You don't list what the three right things might be??

NOTE: My rule of thumb:

If it has 3 distinctive features which are right it probably is.
If it has 3 features which are wrong, it definitely isn't.

Like all rules of thumb there are of course exceptions, however this has worked as guidance for me over the years - note the difference in the two statements, which reflect my experience.

Nigel

Thanks Nigel and Sue

WMF seems the most likely maker at least we all agree with WMF if not Mdina .

I would think a proper fondle might be needed to make a final decision. Shame about the wee chip on the base.

Thanks Sue

I intend to keep it for the time being, I did see this on ebay the other day and was not sure if it was Mdina or not , thought the colours looked similar to mine

Decidedly WMF-y, lending support to the WMF camp. I've not seen much WMF in these sorts of colourways before.

Does anybody know if WMF used silver chloride?

Exactly what I thought looks very WMF shape even if Mdina colour , I wonder if the buyer bought it as Mdina or did they know otherwise.

Maybe they ment heavy for the size rather than large

The fact that there were only 2 bids may mean 2 people knew the value, maybe WMFites  ;D
