kosta boda atoll candleholder
« on: August 30, 2008, 10:38:53 PM »
I have a Kosta Boda atoll candleholder in jade, boxed and with leaflet etc no: 69915 I think(as per label on box?)......should be easy, but having googled I cannot find any reference to it at all.  I can find votives and vases, but cannot find any reference to an atoll candleholder (dinner party candle only) at all.  I wondered whether anyone knows when this was produced and when the range was discontinued please?
Thanks in advance if anyone knows please.

A votive *is* a candleholder isn't it ....    What size is your item?

I've Kosta's 2006 catalogue - doesn't appear in that. Also all of the pattern numbers have been prefixed with '70' in this catalogue, which indicates that the production is pre-2006, rather than post-.

Not much help, admittedly, but at least you now only have to hunt between 1997-2005.  ;D

Hi there,
The "dinner-party" version was  produced between 1997/1998 and 2001. It was discontinued by 2002, probably because sales were disappointing. Hope this helps.

Can anyone put me out of my misery and tell me what size the candleholder is or post up a photo - I've only ever come across the bowls and votives and had no idea there was a 'dinner-party' candleholder.

Pip, mine is 15cm tall, and looks like the colonna but with a difference - the difference being that the top of the atoll candle holder  has a 'lip' or from the side looks like an extra piece of glass was piped round (It wasn't, it is all part of the body, just looks like that for description purposes)- so it is the same width 5cm all the way from bottom to near top but then measuring the top width is 6cm.
Also my atoll is not made to take a tealight, only dinner party candle.  Wondering if they were not popular because they cracked if people let them burn down too far and making them tealight holders works better??

A40ty many thanks!!! :)  that info is much appreciated.

ah I see - thanks for the explanation and the link m.  I've had lots of Atoll bowls and votives but I've never come across the candleholders before - very nice!

Nic sorry , I meant to say thank you also for looking :)
Pip, yes it is really pretty - couldn't resist.  I looked for ages last night and nothing and then this morning after your post, changed the search words and bingo found it ::)
