Deje, even those of use who speak English couldn't make much sense of the sentence.  ;) It wasn't you. I figured it was one of the arty sentences that was to be felt more than read -- a difficult thing to do when translating from one language to another. I think he meant that how much something sells for depends on if there is anyone looking. Prices go up and down a lot because there is one or more people who really want the piece. If those people are on vacation, the price stays low. It is the risk of the auction.

  ok , i understand your posting  ;D ..
i think he is right .. if there s nobody who s looking for an item , then the price is "down" ..
but it could be that this item is so rare that nobody knows it ;) ...
i m a "numismaticspecialist" and it s the same with some rare coins if you want to sell them on ebay ....

I used to sell coins, too -- Morgan silver dollars. The values were pretty easy to figure, since there is one accepted table of values. I find glass so much more difficult. Many times I would like to buy a piece of glass, but I really have no idea of the value. Most art glass is not found in the books and it is hard to find an exact piece sold in a store or on auction. Some people say, "Pay what it is worth to you," which usually draws a blank stare from me.:-\

that was a mess you are right i should have looked at that before i posted it. what i meant to say was like in paintings if no one knows the artist  with months or years of research and then try to convince the collecting cumunity that its one of a kind or to make some sort of buzz about the item or items. after a day or to i end up packing them in a box and put them in the  section. and find something else real quick to make me feel better ;D

Hi Dennis,
I´m away on a construction job at the moment, so please excuse I can´t response every day...
The item in the auction was correctly described and the duration was long enough for anyone
really interested to find it. Therefor I think the price is kind of realistic for ebay; the price of
an auction house or a shop would surely been higher. But one should consider, that people are
generally a bit more cautious with ebay - we all know why. I´ve seen LG figures fetch much less.

Another fact may be, that german glass regardless of whoever designed it seems less collectible
to people. Same item without label incorrectly described as a signed Murano figure would perhaps
have brought a higher result. Perhaps...
